The project objectives are to provide a reliable supply of seawater for use in the heavy industrial zone located within the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and to safely dispose of the used seawater.
While the first phase of the project require seawater supply and disposal infrastructure for 22,000 m3/hr, the The full build-out of the heavy industrial zone is estimated to require 360,000 m3/hr.
Modelling methodology started from the wind and wave data collection. Collected data have been investigated along with the hurricane probability of the area.
The numerical wave model of storm and hurricane conditions have been done and studied to prepare a detailed report on the area characteristics.
Also, a numerical hydrodynamic model has been prepared to ensure that the dilution performance of the proposed outfall system met the environmental criteria in terms of the salinity and temperature also, the interference to the intake system is evaluated.
The Government of Oman is in the process of developing the Town of Duqm as a strategic industrial zone, free trade zone, port and tourism destination in the south of Oman. Duqm is located at the eastern coast of Al Wusta region
The integrated power and water plant at Duqm will be developed as a Greenfield desalination plant.this plant will provide water and electricity to the future industrial zone.
Client: Cobra Tedagua Contracting LLC
The engineering and design of application phase of the intake and outfall structures in Duqm Integrated Power and Water Plant was awarded to ARTI Proje and Co. for the execution of the works under the following scope:
ARTI Project has conducted all of the modelling works in-house and heavily involved with the entire seawater intake and outfall systems design. From the the pipe dimensions to the chlorination system layout on the intake structure, from intake water hammer calculations to ballast block sizing etc.
Also a site visit has done by ARTI Proje.
